  • Biography: Heather Keisha Hunter is a former American porn actress, who is now a hip hop artist and painter. Adult film career Heather Hunter was the first African American actresses to gain widespread popularity in the porn industry, entering the business when she was 18, and achieving prominence by age 21. Hunter is perhaps the best known African American porn actress in the world. Entering into the porn industry in late 1988, she hit the height of her career in the early to mid-1990s, with her main fan-base falling around her interracial and lesbian themed films. Heather got her start while dancing at the Latin Quarter nightclub in New York City. There she met adult film actress Hyapatia Lee, who suggested she perform in movies. Her first movie was titled "Heather Hunter On Fire". She did a few low-budget movies for New York-based Vidway, before moving to Los Angeles and eventually becoming a Vivid Entertainment contract girl. Hunter was the first African American to be inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame in 2003. She has been retired from the adult industry for 10 years now. Career in Music Heather Hunter has been involved with music professionally as far back as 1993, when she was under contract with Island Records doing House music. She had a song titled "I Want It All Night Long". She later worked for Tommy Boy Records without much progress, as the company did not know whether to market her as an R&B or pop singer. Hunter has in recent years seen success in the music industry behind the scenes, and released an eighteen-track rap music album on July 12 2005 titled Double H: The Unexpected. She released the music through, Blo Records owned by her long time manager Dave Copeland. From 1998-2000, Heather hosted "The Peep Show" on pay-per-view.(It was first hosted by rapper Luther Campbell under the title "Luke's Peep Show") It was a raunchy interview show that aired uncensored music videos. While doing this show in 1998, she met rapper Akinyele, who encouraged her to have a music career, and later cameod with Mr. Cee on Double H: The Unexpected. In creating the album, she has also worked with well-known music producers such as DJ Premier, Scott Storch, Aaron "Freedom", Phantom of the Beat and Timbaland. The album featured the single "So Serious". The single and her album's title refers to Hunter's desire to be taken seriously as a hip hop musician. Heather said in an Vibe Magazine interview: What people may not expect is how serious I am about this. I really want people to take me seriously. Being retired from the adult industry nearly thirteen years ago, I think I’ve done enough in the mainstream business and I want to be accepted as an equal, as an artist. I’m going for my respect whether they give it to me or not. As a teenager, Heather was friends with notable hip hop personalities like Kurtis Blow, DJ Red Alert, Special K, Teddy Ted, and Full Force. Love of Painting Heather had an interest in art since she was 7, painting portraits of family members. She furthered this love by majoring in design and illustration at Fashion Industries High School in New York City. For a short time during her teenage years, she was involved in illegal graffiti art as Ms. 45, but quit after being cited by the police. She enrolled in special workshop under the direction and inspiration of renowned street artist, Keith Haring. On June 15, 2006, she launched her "Hunter Collection" in DUMBO Brooklyn N.Y.
