Off The Map (2003)

Moving drama about a family living an earthy existence, outside the confines of society, in the New Mexico desert in the 1970s. As patriarch Sam Elliott suffers from a devastating depression, wife Joan Allen and daughter Valentina de Angelis find their simple lives shaken up by the arrival of IRS agent Jim True-Frost, who shows up to conduct an audit, becomes enthralled by their lifestyle, and decides to stay. J. K. Simmons and Amy Brenneman, who narrates as the grown-up de Angelis, also star. 110 min.
